Our Story

Who We Are

A&J Vineyard Supply was founded in May 2002 by Augusto and Jennifer Di Battista in a tin shed in Napa Valley. What started with just a few pallets of steel stakes and wood posts has grown into an industry-leading trellis supplier serving vineyards worldwide.

Augusto’s agricultural roots run deep—raised on his family’s farmstead near Rome, Italy, he spent his childhood harvesting wheat, tending grapevines, and learning the value of hard work on the land. Jennifer, a Napa Valley native, brings financial expertise and meticulous attention to detail. Together, they combine old-world agricultural heritage with modern business practices.

After spending five years learning the vineyard supply business, the couple struck out on their own in 2002. “We both have entrepreneurial instincts,” recalls Jennifer. “And we really liked the idea of having a physical storefront and building relationships with growers and vendors. We’ve also been fortunate to build a tight-knit group of long-term employees who’ve become like family, and that family atmosphere is something our customers feel the moment they walk through the door.”

Through drought, fires, market crashes, and supply chain disruptions, A&J has weathered every challenge—proving that strong partnerships outlast any storm.

Growing up in Napa Valley with roots in the trellis industry, A&J was never just a business for Jennifer, it was a natural extension of where she came from.
Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, most of what she knows, she learned by doing. Building the company side by side with Augusto, she’s grown into every corner of the business — finance, systems, HR, and the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that keeps the whole operation running tight. Her focus is always on what’s next: a smoother process, a better experience, a stronger team.

Rafael Montanez

Operations Manager

Rafael is the engine behind the day-to-day. From coordinating with vendors and customers to keeping the team aligned and the gears running smoothly, he brings the kind of calm, hands-on leadership that makes everything look easier than it is. Professional when it counts—personable always.
Raised in Napa Valley, Rafa has grown up around vineyards and the wine industry. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, traveling to experience new cultures and cuisines and hanging out with his two daschshunds. 🐶🐶

Starting from the ground up and working his way through the ranks, Antonio brings a depth of knowledge about the business, the products, and the customers that you simply can’t shortcut.
Grounded, approachable, and genuinely invested in the people he works with, he goes out of his way to make sure customers have what they need and feel taken care of long after the order is placed. Dependable in the way that actually means something — the kind where you already know he’ll come through before you even ask.

The kind of person you don’t forget — Francisco is the first to raise his hand when the team needs help. Whatever the day calls for, he shows up with patience, a genuine smile, and the product knowledge to back it up.
Customers gravitate toward him because he takes the time. He’s not rushing you to a decision. He’s making sure you leave with the right materials, the right quantities, and the confidence to get the job done.
Francisco is also a student of life—always curious, always learning, always growing and improving. He enjoys spending time at home with his family and trying new recipies. He is also a great pizza chef!🍕

Admin Assistant & Marketing

Annie is the detail behind the detail. From A/R, A/P and credit processing to making sure every invoice is coded correctly before it leaves the building — she keeps the back end of the business running cleanly so the front end never skips a beat.
And when she’s not deep in the numbers, she’s shaping how A&J shows up in the world — managing social media, our newsletter, and the brand with the same quiet precision she brings to everything else.
Outside of work, you’ll find her logging miles on a run, experimenting in the kitchen, or hanging out with Ruxel, her mastiff — who, based on the photos, deserves his own bio.

Deliveries

Israel understands something most delivery drivers don’t — getting the materials there is only half the job.
He knows the ranches, the back roads, the tight entrances, the locked gates, and the dirt roads that don’t show up on any map. He communicates ahead so crews are ready to receive, and he knows where to drop at each property to keep operations moving without missing a beat. Professional, precise, and serious about his work — when Israel is on the road, the delivery side takes care of itself.
Israel has worn many hats in the wine industry over the course of his career and now enjoys making interesting furniture out of barrel staves.

Jose Zuniga

Supply Yard Manager

As our longest-tenured team member, Jose has earned respect the way most good leaders do — by showing up, doing the work, and setting the standard for everyone around him.
Jose oversees everything that happens in the supply yard: shipping and receiving, order picking and staging, inventory organization, and making sure every customer’s vehicle leaves loaded quickly, correctly, and safely. 
Jose loves being a grandpa and is also a skilled welder. Plus he’s got quite a following as Northern California’s toughest Mexican DJ! 🎤🎵
